Tree of life is a plant nursery owned by three brother's, Aurelio, Candido, and Ruben Munoz. Their businesses are located in four different locations: 405 E Expy 83 San Juan, TX 78589, 2448 E Mile 10 Weslaco, TX 78596-3733, 8220 W Expressway 83 Palm View,TX 78572, and the last one is located in San Benito, which was recently opened. They only report four legal workers for their company, while the rest are all illegal aliens. Most of the workers are from South America and Mexico. About a year ago, OSHA was investigating their company, but nothing has been resolved. The reason for the investigation was due to poor working conditions, for example no water was given while working in the hot sun, the workers were insulted with bad words, they were also being worked from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 or 10:00 p.m. The paying wage was $120 a week for starters and $280 for the rest and no over time was paid. The investigator confirmed to OSHA to be working on the case , but it is said by the current Tree of Life illegal workers that the case has been closed. The rumor is that the OSHA investigators were bought with $10,000 which was said and confirmed by one of the company owner's son. This company earns thousnds of dollars each year, but not all of it is reported. Mostly credit cards and checks are only reported. You might ask how I know so much, Well I am an ex-employee; one of the four legal workers. I ask for something to be done, please.
